I am fascinated by the endless possibilities that modern mosaic has to offer.

Since taking up making mosaics as a hobby around seven years ago, I have, amongst other things, produced a 12" circular interpretation of the planet Mercury, currently on show in a mosaic representation of the cosmos at the Mosaic School in Montpellier, France, using the subtle hues and textures of slate, stone, stained glass, wire and marble, and in complete contrast, completely covered an old dining chair with stained glass in bright and shiny primary colours.

One of my more recent projects has been this landscape scene, inspired by a watercolour painting from Les Packham, the well-known Yorkshire artist. Materials included tumbled glass from broken bottles, slate, stone, ceramic and vitreous glass mosaic tiles and more. This formed part of the BAMM exhibition 'Music of the Eye' in Cirencester last year.

I am currently working on a mosaic of the 'Lichfield Angel' for a BAMM miniatures exhibition in the cathedral there in May. I have chosen to work with tiny tiles which are proving quite challenging! This is being fitted in between studying in my final year for a BA in Applied Creative Design at Harrogate College.
