Jane Thorniley-Walker is a mosaic artist living and working in Osmotherley on the edge of the North York Moors. She has exhibited her work at a variety of venues – most recently at the Rural Arts Gallery in Thirsk and The Golden Brown Cafe Gallery, Darlington and Fishbourne Roman Palace.
Jane also regularly undertakes private commissions and has led mosaic workshops for local schools and adults.
Her inspirations come largely from nature, specifically the surrounding landscape of the moors. Wider cultural influences include historic ornamental design from the Middle East and Europe.
The materials used comprise vitreous glass tiles and smalti, often combined with recycled pieces. The sizes of work range from 24x26cm to 94x61cm
