BAMM North - Northern Lights is a regional group of The British Association for Modern Mosaic (BAMM), established in 2005.
We are a team of mosaic artists who create work for commission and exhibition, and who work in schools and communities promoting this ancient practice in its contemporary form. We have grown together as a strong, forward-looking group with the skills, enthusiasm and commitment needed to create contemporary mosaic for many areas of life.
The north of England has a wealth of fine examples of Roman and medieval mosaics and this blend of old and new mosaics complements each other and links vibrant, contemporary art, the artists’ community, and the general public together.
The Northern Lights branch supports a large area of north Britain. In the first two years that our regional group has been established we have already held exhibitions at York Minster and Wakefield City Art Gallery. Our members are currently working on private commissions, future exhibitions, mural projects and work for sale in private galleries.
We are building on this success, and are currently working to design and create new works for exhibitions planned over the next 12 months including an exhibition at Pontefract Museum June 13th - September 12th 2010.
This website brings together 11 of these artists to show examples of their work both as individual practitioners and as a group. All of the artists can be contacted through this site, giving the public an opportunity to locate and talk to mosaic artists in their area.
